Mt. Chimney had little to offer Ameena, but she had heard some Hisuian pokemon were in the area, and she was interested enough in the unusual pokemon to add them to her collection. However, there was no sign of such pokemon. In fact, the area seemed particularly barren. That should have been warning enough. [break][break]

The mountaintop exploded with soot, which got kicked up in the already considerable winds. Ameena pulled her scarf higher to cover her mouth and nose, but she had to close her eyes completely. She released Magearna, holding onto the pokemon as she tried to navigate her way down.

In a strange turn of events, it turned out that Yuina had become sort of an unofficial storm chaser as events went on. She spent enough time chasing and tracking things like distortions, why couldn't it account for other kinds of weather disasters too?[break][break]
However, it seemed that the new phenomena of soot storms was a little more unpredictable than she could have initially thought...[break]
Yuina was clung to Dig's back, the Ursaluna proved a great mountain climber and could weather the tough conditions with his thick hide and burly body. She was covered from head to toe, but she knew that she would still come out of this caked and covered in black soot no matter what she did.[break][break]
Out on the mountain though, Kano padded through the soot and ash, unbothered by the sudden onslaught. He was scouting ahead, making sure things were safe for Yuina and Dig, but now it seemed with the storm encompassing the entire surrounding area, they had fallen well behind. The canine would have to go back and find them now.

Ameena focused on her own survival. It was easy to underestimate weather conditions. The terrain was another negative factor. However, she trusted Duchess to lead her to safety. It wasn't until the metal pokemon beeped that Ameena got in close to open her eyes. [break][break]

Indeed, an Arcanine that wasn't quite standard in appearance was there, looking downward for something. Perfect. [break][break]

Ameena released Gardevoir and gestured to the canine pokemon. While Gardevoir was unhappy with the soot storm, she obeyed, using psychic to lift the Arcanine for easier capture. Ameena, of course, struggled to get the pokeball out from her waist with all of her protective layers.

The Arcanine sniffed through the soot, his keen senses finding Yuina and Dig through the storm, and where he was ready to move through the ash in order to meet back up with the pair to depart, his senses caught something else...[break][break]
Kano barked first, turning and finding a small group of others Pokemon and a human, leery of their presence. However, it wasn't until he felt the energy of a psychic encompass him that the canine understood they were opposition.[break][break]
The canine howled and snarled, his great strength and weight testing the strength of the hold that held him up above the ground as he moved and fought. Should that not allow him free to fend for himself though, the Arcanine had other forms of force.[break][break]
In spite of not truly being able to go anywhere, the canine began to run in mid air, electricity beginning to form and crackle around his great paws, surging up and around his body using Wild Charge. All it took was just the right amount of electrical currents... And given how combustible volcanic ash was...

Ameena laughed at the helplessness of the Arcanine while it ran and generated electricity. Well, up until she realized... [break][break]

"Drop him!" [break][break]

Gardevoir obeyed, releasing the move to drop the canine. Ameena's heart raced in her chest; sparking a reaction in a soot storm this severe spelled out utter hell. She hated the smell of singed hair, and burning flesh was not an improvement. She secured the pokeball from her waist, finally, and tossed it, hoping to make a quick capture and get out of here before she permanently smelled like ash.

Dig and Yuina both caught wind of Kano's barking and distressed howls. The bear lumbered across the mountain side with Yuina astride his shoulders, trying to follow the sounds of the canine.[break][break]
The elctricity dissipated as Kano was released from the psychic hold, knowing at least they wouldn't be trying that again any time soon... But the Arcanine snarled and barked again at the sight of a Pokeball whistling towards him through the air. The fire type lunged forward, maw billowing with a Fire Fang that aimed to break the offending device, and his second warning to his attackers before things got really serious.[break][break]
Seconds later, Dig the Ursaluna rushed over the mountain side with Yuina, and through the soot she could make out another figure in the near distance, someone else was up there stuck in the storm.[break]
"Hey, hey! Are you okay? Do you need help?"

The Arcanine was feisty. It bit at the pokeball with expert accuracy. She pulled another just in time to see a trainer come up mountain. Was it a Ranger seeking to rescue people stuck in the storm? [break][break]

"Never better," she answered facetiously, face partially covered by the scarf, though she would be taking several baths to clean the soot off of her. "I found the Hisuian that was reported in these parts, so you can go ahead and shoo." She had no intention of letting the other trainer catch it first. Ameena needed Hisuian pokemon to study their energy readings. [break][break]

The Magearna she held onto took Ameena's cue when she tapped it, prompting the metal pokemon to launch aura sphere at the Arcanine. Ameena tossed another pokeball in its direction.

Dig glowered at the sight of the other human and the few Pokemon, he wasn't too keen on their presence as small flames still licked at the sides of Kano's jowls. Yuina hadn't yet taken notice to the hostility that was looming amidst the ash, but she did hear the other woman's words. Hisuian Pokemon reported in the mountains? Was there a distortion nearby? Had one occurred and she hadn't been able to catch it?[break][break]
"Hisuian Pokemon? What species, where are they," she wondered immediately, her attention was grabbed... Until... Kano barked and snarled, digging his paws into the ash on the ground.[break][break]
Kano lunged forward and ran head first into the Aura Sphere, looking to break up the energy with his Psychic Fangs while Yuina threw herself from Dig's back and rushed towards the Pokeball that flew through the air, knocking it out of the way.[break][break]
"Wait! He's not wild, I think there's been a mix up," Yuina huffed, coughing a bit through the soot. This was all just a big misunderstanding!

The little one had the audacity to knock the pokeball away from the pokemon. 'It's not wild' - why knock away the capture capsule, then? Ameena couldn't abide liars or thieves, let alone someone set on being both. "Unwise to mettle," she warned. She stepped towards the girl with full intentions of intimidating her, but the soot caught up to her and forced her to double over as she coughed violently. It was hard to navigate, hard to see, hard to argue... The odds were against her. [break][break]

She held onto the bottom of her Magearna, keeping it close to herself. She wanted to fight the girl, but she needed Magearna to keep her from stumbling or even rolling down-mountain uncontrollably; soot could make the appearance of false solid ground, which would spell trouble. [break][break]

She growled in frustration. She wanted the Hisuian pokemon, but her combatant had better pokemon for traversing the terrain; while Ameena felt her team was undoubtedly stronger, they would all be at a disadvantage with the soot storm. It wasn't worth getting her sick, which would only interrupt her research deadlines. "I have no more time for games. Have this one. But know that thieves always get their due." She reinforced the scarf covering her mouth with her hand, and Garevoir took the cue to flee, using teleport to flee the mountaintop.
